Resonance
Halia runs on music. Every citizen is born with a magical frequency, a Resonance that determines their place in society, their profession, and their worth. The Syndicate controls all Resonance output. To sing without purpose is forbidden. To have no Resonance at all is to be nothing.
Society & The Syndicate
Halia is divided into levels. The higher you live, the closer to the surface, the more power you hold. At the top sits the Syndicate, the governing body that classifies every citizen by their frequency and decides who matters. At the bottom sits the Reach, where the Syndicate's rules thin out and something older and freer takes their place.
The Nymerial
Beneath Halia, something ancient is dying. The Nymerial is the life force that sustains the dome, powers the Resonance, and holds the world together. It has been trying to reach someone for a very long time. It has finally found him.
Faces of the Deep
The people of Halia carry the weight of a world that measures their worth in frequencies. These are the ones who will change it.
